Keep in mind that there is a limitation to how loud your speakers can be, and that depends on the hardware inside of them.

Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your desktop.

Scroll up and click "All Programs." Scroll over and click "Accessories" and then click "Entertainment." Click "Volume Control."

Press and hold your left mouse button on the volume control all the way to the left. Move your mouse up so the volume control is higher than it was before.

Windows Vista or 7

Step 1

Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your desktop. Scroll up and click your "Control Panel." Click the drop-down next to "View By" and click "Small Icons" if you are in Windows 7. If you are in Vista, click "Classic View."

Click on the "Sound" item in the Control Panel. Right-click on the speakers in the device window that appears. Scroll down and click "Configure Speakers."

Click the "Test" button to find out how loud your speakers are. Hit the "Next" button. Put a check mark in the box next to "Front left and right" and click the "Next" button.

Step 4

Right-click on the speakers in the device window again. Scroll down and click "Properties." Click the "Levels" tab. Move the slider volume control all the way to the right. Hit the "Enhancements" tab if available and put a check mark next to all of the boxes below "Disable all enhancements."

Click the "Apply" button and the "OK" button.

Adjust Physical Speakers

Step 1

Make sure the volume is turned up on the actual speakers. Most speakers have a knob on the front or side that turns. Moving this control will increase your speaker volume.

Check the connection in the back of the computer. Your speakers probably have a male single prong connection that slides into a hole in your computer tower. Make sure that the prong is all the way in the hole. In many cases, this connection is color coded and marked on the computer with a speaker icon.

Face the speakers in the direction of the listener. As simple as it sounds, move the face of the speaker towards the user. Also move the speakers closer to the user.
