Cable television provides a clear picture and signal to homes throughout the United States.

Home electronic equipment provide hours of entertainment for many families. The introduction of cable television brought with it countless programming choices. To receive a cable signal on your television, the cable box must be connected to transmit the cable signal. Using the cable provided by your cable company or purchased from a retailer, the setup and installation of a cable box only takes minutes.

Step 1

Locate the "A/V out" port -- which stands for audio/visual -- on the back of the cable box. Typically, the port is approximately 3/4 inch in length and is threaded like a screw. This is the connection point that provides the cable television signal to the television through the coaxial, also known as coax, cable.

Step 2

Locate the "A/V in" port on the back of the Panasonic television. This port should look similar -- if not identical -- to the port on the back of the cable box. This is the connection point that receives the cable television signal from the cable box through the coax cable.

Step 3

Insert one end of the coax cable into the "A/V out" port on the back of the cable box, keeping it straight. The connector typically looks like a standard hexagonal nut on the outside, with a thin pin-like piece of metal on the inside. The A/V port has a tiny hole to allow the pin to insert securely.
